The "25 Years Rule" That Changed Everything | Rishi Dhariwal on Banking, Life & Ancient Wisdom

From the video description

🎙️ Welcome to India Authors Show Podcast - Ep 14! In this eye-opening episode, we sit down with Rishi Dhariwal — a senior banking professional and author who challenges everything you think you know about career success, self-help, and the Bhagavad Gita. After 17 years in banking, Rishi went back to school at IIM Ahmedabad's PGPX program — an experience he describes as a complete "metamorphosis." Unsatisfied with existing interpretations of the Bhagavad Gita, he learned Sanskrit to read it directly. The result? A radical reinterpretation that challenges centuries of conventional wisdom. 🔥 What You'll Learn: Career & Personal Growth: ✅ The "25 Years Rule" — Why working hard early changes your entire life trajectory ✅ How accepting harsh feedback in 2003 transformed his career ✅ Why going back to IIM Ahmedabad humbled him after 17 years of success ✅ Strategic ways to navigate workplace politics using Chanakya's principles ✅ The power of "skip-level" relationships over relying on one manager Controversial Takes: 💥 Why Rishi wants to "ban" the traditional self-help industry 💥 His claim that "Indians have been suckers for technology for 200 years" 💥 Why reading books alone can't create permanent change 💥 The truth about inner wiring vs. surface-level motivation Bhagavad Gita Reimagined: 📖 Why he learned Sanskrit to read the Gita directly 📖 The critical importance of reading verses in sequence, not isolation 📖 Challenging negative portrayals of Dhritarashtra 📖 Reinterpreting "focus on work, not results" — Results ARE guaranteed (if you understand it correctly) 📖 How ancient wisdom applies to modern corporate life ⏱️ TIMESTAMPS: 0:00 — Teaser: The Harsh Truth About Self-Help 1:30 — Welcome & Introduction of Rishi Harial 3:15 — The "25 Years Rule" That Changed Everything 6:40 — Going Back to IIM Ahmedabad After 17 Years in Banking 9:22 — The Metamorphosis: From Ocean to Drop 12:08 — The Brutal Feedback That Triggered Transformation (2003) 15:30 — Why All Feedback Is At Least 50% True 18:45 — Navigating Workplace Politics: Chanakya vs. Robert Greene 21:33 — The Power of Skip-Level Relationships 24:10 — CONTROVERSIAL: "Ban the Self-Help Industry" 27:55 — Why Reading Books Isn't Enough for Real Change 30:42 — Inner Wiring vs. Surface Motivation 33:20 — Yoga & Meditation: The Real Path to Transformation 36:15 — "Indians Are Suckers for Technology" — The Innovation Debate 40:08 — India Stack Success: Built on Whose Foundation? 43:27 — Historical Contributions vs. Modern Innovation 46:50 — Why He Learned Sanskrit to Read the Bhagavad Gita 50:15 — Finding Existing Versions Unsatisfactory 53:40 — The Power of Reading Verses in Sequence 57:22 — Dhritarashtra: Villain or Misunderstood? 1:01:35 — Characters as Metaphors for Society 1:05:10 — Verse 2.47 Reinterpreted: Results ARE Guaranteed 1:09:45 — Focus on Organizational Perpetuity, Not Personal Gratification 1:13:20 — Applying Ancient Wisdom to Modern Corporate Life 1:16:55 — His Biggest Life Lesson 1:19:40 — Final Message to Viewers 1:21:15 — Where to Find Rishi's Work 📚 Connect with Rishi Dhariwal: connect@rishidhariwal.com Buy his books: 1.
